A big difference between the Foretrex and Forerunner is that the Foretrex allows you to upload a "planned" track in advance. It will then guide you throughout the track. With the Forerunner, however, you are not able to upload a "planned" track in advance. It can only direct you to return back through the last
track your did, the active track.

In summary, it is OK for hiking as an assistance to go back if you get
lost, but not to direct you to a pre-planned spot.

The Forerunner is for runners whereas the Foretrex is designed for hikers.
